Effects of a Dedicated Program for Cognitive Function in Community-Dwelling Older Adults with Early Dementia
Jeong So-Hyung
Abstract
Purpose: To examine the effect of a dedicated program aimed at enhancing cognitive function in older individuals with early-stage dementia.

Methods: A nonequivalent, control group, post-test only design was used (experimental [n=64]; control [n=64]). Data were analyzed using the independent t-test and chi-squared test.

Results: Post-test results in the experimental group (t=¡©5.81, p£¼.001) were better than those in the pre-test group (t=¡©11.23, p£¼.001).

Conclusion: These results provided evidence suggesting enhanced cognitive function in older patients with early dementia who participated in the cognitive program, while changes in dementia screening test scores among normal older individuals yielded evidence supporting its use as a possible preventive measure against dementia.
